Addicted to your computer? You’re not alone… 22.05.

Addiction.

Like a writer to their pen, a construction worker to his drill, I too am at one….with my computer.

It is an addiction that has been growing for years. At one stage this addiction got so bad, I only had two hours sleep and then went to work. This happened for a week. It nearly wiped me out.

Nearly.

But now, back heavily on the addiction high, I immerse myself into a world where I MUST DO or CHECK these ‘items’ before I go to bed. My conversations with myself never seem to help either -

Oh go on, just check your email one last time…and while you are there update your profile - oh and one last thing, you know that song you have been working on…make some minor tweaks….

And on and on it goes until I get a text message from my wife telling me to come to bed NOW. Unfortunately, it is too late, I’m on a roll, checking and skipping through countless new tabs in search for something amazing only to move onto the next thing quicker than you can say OHMYGODTHISADDICTIONISTOOMUCHFUN!

I justify it all the time by saying - One day, this will make some money and you won’t have to check your email each second because you will be out spending…..It’s not like you’re playing games, everything you do is important - social, mental, emotional - it’s all in there!

Yes, the computer. The tool of my dreams. It costs nothing to run (ok, a little power bill) and gives you ultimate access to MILLIONS of opportunities.

But how do I escape the most beautiful thing (second to my wife) in the world?

How do people normally get over addiction?

Admit it? Ok, well, I AM A COMPUTER ADDICT.

That wasn’t so hard, what’s next?

I think for me, the next big step is taking a ’screenshot’ of what I do on a daily basis, so -

Here are 99% of the things I use on my computer on a DAILY basis (in no particular order) and the simplified reason of how/why I use them -

Was it a waste of a time or not?

Unfortunately that is something only time will tell. But one thing’s for certain….

…I need to get off this damn computer!
